Lights, Camera, Action

From my days styling stores and shopfronts for the likes of Jasper Conran and Donna Karan, when I get the opportunity to step away from my designing sketchbook and style a home, I’m like a kid seeing Santa Clause for the very first time. As I watch the space transform through the use of texture, pattern and colour, then comes the feeling of waking up on Christmas morning to see that you got the bicycle you asked Santa for; and this kind of mythical magic really does exist! A dear friend of mine, Nicole Bremner - property developer, tech investor, speaker, and now best-selling author of ‘Bricking It’ - reached out to me about styling her company, East Eight Developments, first luxury show flat - Harrington Gardens – in South Kensington. The objective: to curate and dress a modern, contemporary flat using Casa Botelho’s bespoke furniture. My goal was to bring personality, emotion and excitement into the space, showcasing the lifestyle that could be lived in this home and making sure those that visited, couldn’t leave without having it! With total styling freedom and Nicole’s trust in Casa Botelho’s style and philosophy, I set about complementing the contemporary architecture and exquisite wooden finishes of this £6 million project with our Curvature Collection fabrics and glamorous furniture designs. The result is a luxurious home that showcases the architectural details while feeling warm and inviting, and with enough character to give visitors that ‘WOW’ moment! The sleek, minimal design of this bedroom together with its cool and calming hues needed something to bring all these elements together while creating impact. Introducing the Belo Fabric from our Curvature Collection was a perfect colour match and Belo’s bulging curves and strong angles offered just the right amount of personality. As you all know, a signature style of mine is symmetry and I love to play with this element of design, particularly in living rooms. While every piece is paired, the use of different colours, patterns and design styles adds individuality and a distinctive aesthetic to this space. Featured designs include the Bacco Armchair in Ottone Velvet, Cupid Corner Chair in Emerald Luxe Velvet, Ermes Pouf in Mustard Cowhide and Rio Fabric, Gibson and Kangaroo Martini Tables, Lorraine Rug, and Diana Coffee Table. Small elements such as the use of the Fornasetti Candles and small potted plants on the Diana Coffee Tables, as well as the Vulcano Lanterns in Pitch Black atop the television cabinet, all add personality and character to the space. Once again, symmetry plays a major role in the dining room while a more moody colour palette creates a sophisticated and glamorous space. Features designs include the Vulcano Lanterns in Antique Bronze and Antique Brass, Vulcano Tray in Antique Bronze, and the Atena Armchair. Entrance ways are one of my favourite places to style as I know that many people overlook this important greeting space. Many of our design at Casa Botelho were created with this idea in mind; petite furniture that has a lot of character. While the cowhide rug breaks up the wooden surfaces, the Ermes Pouf in Rio Fabric adds intrigue with its geometric pattern, the round hanging mirror reflects light, and the Diana Umbrella Stand adds contrast with its Hot Red, Corian base. In the master bedroom, simplicity was a key design element in creating the luxurious, zen feel. With two large sash windows, there was an abundance of natural light which gave life and energy to the space. To enhance this aura, I introduced the Belo Fabric which was used in normal and reversed to create contrast while still maintaining unity. The master bathroom was the definition absolutely fabulous! The floor-to-ceiling marble shone in the natural light, and the choice of black accessories with the small addition of green and brass from the Ermes Pouf in Evergreen Quilted Velvet, created an ultra-luxe, opulent retreat. Other featured items include the Bronx Martini Table and Bacco Waste Bin. In the kitchen, the addition of the Diana Bar Stools in Tornasol Cowhide offered a lavish contrast to the parquetry floors. While Casa Botelho styled this fabulous Harrington Gardens flat for Nicole Bremner and East Eight Developments, there were many other incredibly talented firms involved, including Thomas Zanon-Larcher Photography, Moon Ray Studio, Droo Projects, and LC Developments. I hope you love it!!! Until next time … remember magic is real! The journey continues…
